A late Christmas at the WOA Center

01/02/2011

Normally, by the end of January, Christmas is long over. People celebrated Catholic Christmas on the 25th of December and Orthodox Christmas on the 6th of January.

However, the German Speaking Club at the Kirovograd Oblast Library recently decided to hold little post-Christmas celebration.

The club, which meets at 17:30 every Tuesday, celebrated a late Christmas on 18 January with traditional German Christmas sweets, which were generously provided by the Goethe-Institute.  Included in our feast were “Gluehwein” (hot spiced wine), “Stollen” and “Spekulatius”.

So this time, instead of discussing German literature or the current topic of the movie we are watching together (in German of course), we sat together, enjoying our treats, chatting in German, Russian or English.
Thanks to the Goethe-Institute and the Kirovograd Oblast Library for bringing Christmas back for a few hours!
