Holiday Concert at Library!

Last night we had a wonderful concert at the library, which was held in the arts center on the first floor (if you have not visited this center, please make sure to do so! In addition to two beautiful stained-glass windows, it has continuing art exhibitions by local artists).

The concert was a little bit impromptu, as we were approached about it on Monday evening! But nevertheless, the people who normally come for our English-language film club attended the concert, as did some other library patrons.

At the concert, four musicians from Music School Number 1 entertained the group with American, French, and Latin songs, including “White Christmas”, “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”, “Moonlight Serenade”, “Georgia on My Mind”, “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, “Pardonnez-Moi”, “Memory”, and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.

The musicians, Natalya Hubareva, Viktoriya Delestyanova, Elena Smotrenko, and Olga Tereshchenko, both sang and performed the numbers on violin and piano.

In the audience were Kirovohrad’s two newest Peace Corps Volunteers, Jasmin Lafradez and Robert Pollard, both of whom are Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Volunteers.

This is the second concert the musicians from School Number 1 have performed for us, and we hope to have many more in the future!
